Every rental, every time — insured.
Rental insurance activates the moment you take possession of the gear. No separate policy to buy, no excess forms, no coverage gaps between pickup and return.
What the insurance actually covers
Read this before you rent or list. Insurance is not a blank guarantee — knowing the scope prevents surprises.
What's covered
- Accidental damage that occurs during the active rental period
- Theft of covered gear during the rental period
- Equipment failure from a covered accidental cause
- Gear covered from handoff to return — not just "during shooting"
- Both renter and owner protected in the same claim process
What's not covered
- Intentional damage or deliberate misuse
- Loss from gross negligence during transport
- Normal wear and tear over time
- Pre-existing damage not documented in the condition report
- Damage occurring after the agreed return time
If something goes wrong
Document immediately
Take clear photos of any damage before anything changes. Do this at the point of discovery — during the rental, at return, or immediately after.
Contact Wedio
Report the incident through the platform or contact us at [email protected]. Include the rental ID, photos, and a description of what happened.
Assessment
Wedio assesses the claim against the baseline condition report. Both parties are contacted. The assessment typically takes 3–5 business days.
Resolution
If the claim is covered, repair or replacement costs are handled through the insurance process. Payments go directly to the gear owner. The renter is informed of the outcome.
Insurance questions
Yes. Claims are subject to an excess, which varies depending on the gear value and the type of incident. The excess amount is disclosed before you confirm a rental booking. Minor damage below the excess threshold is typically resolved directly between renter and owner.
Coverage is currently limited to rentals where pickup and return take place within Denmark. If you're planning to travel internationally with rented gear, contact Wedio before the rental to clarify coverage scope.
If damage is confirmed as accidental and covered under the policy, the insurance handles the repair or replacement costs to the owner. The renter may be responsible for the excess. Cases of intentional damage are handled separately and may result in account suspension.
Initial assessment takes 3–5 business days. More complex cases may take longer, especially if external repair quotes are required. Wedio communicates status updates to both parties throughout the process.
Wedio's rental insurance is designed to cover the gear during the rental period. If you have a production-level policy that already covers borrowed equipment, you may have overlapping coverage — but it is not required. Wedio's coverage is automatic and included in every booking.
Rent knowing you're covered.
Every booking includes insurance and a documented condition baseline. The gear is protected from pickup to return.
